The Australian Racing Group has confirmed that the inaugural Bathurst International will be held on November 13-15 this year, headlined by the TCR Bathurst 500.
The brand-new event, launched in spectacular style at the famous regional New South Wales circuit late last year, has locked in its own unique mid-November date that will allow drivers and teams from all around the world the chance to compete at one of the most revered race tracks on the planet.
ARG is also pleased to confirm that the TCR Series cars will compete in a stand-alone 500km race, set to become a jewel in the crown of all international TCR events.
The Bathurst TCR 500 will see each car entered with two drivers, bringing market relevant endurance touring car racing back to the famous mountain circuit.
Locally-based TCR cars will be required to update some of their specifications to allow for pit stops and refuelling as the current racers only compete with sprint set-ups.
Any TCR team from around the world will have the ability to bring their cars to Mount Panorama for the event, while leading TCR drivers will be highly-sought after to fill co-driver spots in local entries.
Jason and Ben Bargwanna are the first co-driver pairing to be confirmed. The former Bathurst 1000 winner and his young son will team up in a Peugeot 308 to compete in the new race. CLICK HERE for more on that deal.
The Bathurst International will also see heritage muscle cars (including Australia’s popular Touring Car Masters), Trans Am 2 racers and the all-new S5000 open wheelers create their thunderous V8 roar around the mountain.
