Kelly Racing reveals Heimgartner’s Astra TCR entry

Kelly Racing has revealed the colours of the Holden Astra to be driven by Andre Heimgartner for Round 4 at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

The squad has shown off the car which Heimgartner will drive following the announcement that he will substitute for Chelsea Angelo in a switch aimed to further assist the development of the Astra package.

The Astra will carry major support from Kangan Institute, with Dare Iced Coffee to feature on Heimgartner’s Astra, and the other Kelly Racing-run TCR entry of Molly Taylor at Ipswich.

Heimgartner’s Subaru WRX, which he campaigned at the opening three rounds of the carsales TCR Australia Series, has been rested temporarily while the team work on technical issues.

For the Astras, Kelly Racing has enlisted the support of a senior engineer from Lubnar Motorsport in Germany to travel to Australia and work alongside Heimgartner and Angelo, as well as fellow Astra driver Alex Rullo this weekend.

For Angelo, the strategy behind the team’s decision makes sense.

“We have seen enormous potential in the Astra however we have faced challenges in the first three rounds which have ultimately undermined our results,” she said.

“With Andre’s car facing time on the sidelines, Todd (Kelly) and I decided this would be a perfect opportunity to invite Lubnar Motorsport’s input.

“Dare Iced Coffee now feature across two Kelly Racing cars and of course I’ll be there across the weekend to not only work in with the team but also represent Dare Iced Coffee.”

Round 4 of the car sales TCR Australia Series will be held at Queensland Raceway in Ipswich this weekend. Two practice sessions will be held on Friday, followed by qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and two 30 minute races on Sunday.
