Aaron Cameron loses podium after raft of post-race penalties

Volkswagen Golf driver Aaron Cameron has lost his third place finish after a post-race investigation by CAMS at The Bend Motorsport Park today.

Cameron, who was third in the series standings after an outstanding drive to third place, was judged to have passed Alex Rullo’s Holden Astra under Safety Car conditions in the opening laps of today’s first race.

Cameron was handed a 28 second penalty, classifying him in 12th place.

This has promoted John Martin’s Honda Civic Type R to third place.

Martin’s Honda team-mate Tony D’Alberto has also copped a post-race penalty for contact with Jimmy Vernon. D’Alberto was served a 10 second addition for the incident. He has now been classified in 13th.

During the race, Leanne Tander was handed a 5 second penalty for starting over her grid box, while Jordan Cox was served a 10 second penalty for contact with James Moffat on the first lap.

Tomorrow will feature two more TCR Australia Series races, with Race 2 kicking off at 12:45pm Adelaide time, and the third race at 1:50pm.

You can catch the races live, free and in HD on SBS, or watch the live stream on TCR Australia’s website.
